Featured Amenity - The Public Garden

America’s oldest botanical garden, Boston’s Public Garden, is a relaxing escape for residents of luxury Boston condos like FP3, 45 Province and 360 Newbury St. The meandering paths will give you a chance to take it easy and admire the soothing sights and scents of the garden’s exotic trees and gorgeous flower arrangements.

The Public Garden was built in 1837 according to a plan developed by George Meacham. Meacham won a public design competition with a prize of $100. Today the Public Garden is maintained in the Victorian style, with intricate flowerbeds displaying a wide variety of carefully cultivated blooms. The Boston Parks and Recreation Department’s greenhouses grow the exotic plants that decorate the Public Garden, supplying them at the peak of their beauty and maintaining over 80 plant species for use in future plantings.

The Public Garden also rewards Boston residents with its monuments, fountains and calm lagoon, where the Paget family has operated swan boats for over 100 years. The overall effect is one of escape from the bustling city life of downtown Boston. The Public Garden is available for weddings, though the uniquely idyllic and historic venue draws enough attention that you should be prepared to book it far in advance.

Maybe you want a simple walk among the flowers to revitalize yourself in the middle of a busy day. Maybe you’re looking for a great place for a romantic date or even a dream wedding. In any case, Boston’s Public Garden is well worth checking out. It’s just one more feature that makes our city such a great place to live!
