About Hyde Park

Hyde Park is the southernmost neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts.

It is located approximately 8 miles south of downtown Boston - about a 20 minute drive via I-93. Residents of Hyde Park can also access Downtown Boston via public transport in around 30 minutes.

The Hyde Park area was established in the 1660s, and grew into a hub of paper and cotton manufacturing in the eighteenth century. The extension of rail lines from Boston in the 1850s spurred the area's residential development. It is the only town annexed by majority vote of the residents into the City of Boston.

Hyde Park is home to a diverse range of people, housing types and social groups. It is an urban location with suburban characteristics, and has taken the motto "A Small Town in the City" because of its suburban feel.

Hyde Park, Boston Real Estate

The Hyde Park real estate market is a hot one right now. It has become a popular place for buyers thanks to the inclusive community feel and the pricing of homes.

It is more affordable than many of the surrounding communities, including West Roxbury, Roslindale, and Jamaica Plain. But, with its popularity ever-increasing, this might not last for long.

Homes for sale in Hyde Park feature a mix of properties. There are single-family homes with backyards, townhouses and apartments for sale.

With quiet streets, lots of parking space  and great public transportation links, Hyde Park is a truly great place to live in Boston.

Things To Do In Hyde Park

As the name might suggest, there are lots of outdoor spaces in Hyde Park.

The nearby Stony Brook Park provides a great place for walking and cycling, and also features two docks to launch canoes and kayaks from. There’s also Hyde Park Skatepark and Smith Pond Playground, two popular places to hangout for teenagers and young families.

Hyde Park is home to the highly regarded George Wright Golf Course. This course is named for Baseball Hall of Famer and Boston Red Stockings shortstop George Wright. The course is a Donald Ross-designed course, and is considered one of his best designs - local golf lovers need to visit here!

There isn’t a huge demand for fine dining in the area, but there are plenty of international food options thanks to the diverse makeup of Hyde Park's population. Some local favorites include Tutto Italiano and Ron’s Ice Cream - which is an ice cream parlour with a bowling alley!

And, of course, living in Hyde Park makes Boston all yours to discover. The area’s proximity to downtown and links to public transportation means you can visit the city’s lively nightlife, hit up a Red Sox game or visit one of the many amazing breweries at any time!
