Explore Medford Real Estate

The community of Medford, Massachusetts straddles the Mystic River, with residential neighborhoods stretching north and south from its banks. Residents throughout the city are quite diverse, ranging from students attending Tufts University to working professionals and their family, commuting daily to the downtown core of Boston.

Among Medford’s main draws is how relatively affordable it's been able to stay, compared to some of Boston’s more affluent suburbs. This has also made it incredibly sought after as a place to live. Medford has seen steadily increasing property values in the past few decades. Potential home buyers will love the extra bit of space they can afford for the same price in similar suburbs, or within the city of Boston itself.

The city is well established and the Medford real estate market is predominantly populated by classic, single-family homes as well as renovated two-storey condo conversions. There are some newer builds to be found but for the most part you’ll find stylish characters homes in the Tudor and Federalist styles, similar to much of Greater Boston.

The upside is that many of these older homes and condo conversion properties have been lovingly updated and renovated. The exterior displays a classic style of a bygone era, but many of the interiors have tastefully introduced more contemporary layouts and design finishes.

Medford Community Information

The Medford community itself is very appealing. For such a short trip away from metropolitan Boston, the small city contains a wealth of green spaces. The established neighborhoods boast a wealth of mature overhanging boughs and there are quaint, small parks that dot neighborhoods north and south of the river.

The river itself is a beautiful attraction. The Mystic River Path runs alongside the northern banks of the river and through Veterans Memorial Park. Go just north of Medford and you’ll find the massive Middlesex Fells Reservation, a 2,200 acre state park. This expansive park features miles upon miles of walking trails through the wonderful wilderness preserve, which features a number of lakes within its boundaries.

The city of Medford itself is overflowing with an iconic historic character. Centered around Medford Square, the community features many examples of classic architecture from the colonial era. Interestingly, Medford is the setting of Paul Revere’s legendary midnight ride. Reportedly, Revere’s route took him along Main Street to Medford Square.

The main commercial areas of Medford lie along Mystic Avenue south of the river and surround Medford Square to the north. A result of its diverse population and long history, Medford’s culinary scene features an embarrassment of influences. You’ll find great examples of restaurants with cuisines from the world over on their menus.

With so many amenities, it’s easy to see why so many homebuyers choose to make Medford their home.
